Being professional is something that is essential to your success. As a business owner, I have come to realize that the way people choose to act and carry themselves, reflects immensely on their business. I’m sure you’ve heard the saying “It takes ten years to build your reputation but only ten minutes to ruin it”, this is something I have discovered to be very true. If you want your business to thrive and prosper, you HAVE to be professional at all times.
Associating yourself with unprofessional people or actions can ruin your name faster than you can say it. As a professional you should never entertain unprofessional behavior. Even if you are not acting in an unprofessional manner, but others around you are, it still reflects back on you.
If you are willing to act unprofessionally it signals that there is something to be desired about your ability to work. It shows that you may have insecurities about yourself, which turns people off. No one wants to do business with someone that isn’t confident in what they are selling or themselves. They also don’t want to do business with someone that will tolerate unprofessional behavior from their peers, coworkers, employees, etc. like I said before, the actions that you allow to go on around you still reflect back on you!!
The bottom line is acting professional and associating yourself with other professional people are a huge importance when it comes to being successful. Surround yourself with people that will help your business grow. Don’t feel bad if you have to eliminate people from your life, because when you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe you will never let someone hold you back!!
