What do you want your life to be like in a year, five years, or longer? I’m sure you have an image in your head and some sort of plan to get there. Here are a few suggestions I have that might help you live out your dreams quicker.

Evaluate where you are now:

Take a look at every aspect of your life right now: career, financially, emotionally, physically, etc. What parts of your life do you want to stay constant? What parts to do you want to change? Create a list of what you are happy with in your life and save it so you can reference back to it in the future. Having lists of things that make you happy are great to look back on when you are struggling. Also create a list of what you are looking to change in your life and put it with the goals you have written down. The more you write things down, the more likely they are to get done.

Break down the path to your future goals:

Reaching your future goals isn’t going to happen overnight. It’s important to break things down into smaller increments so you can celebrate many times along the way. Great things take time so it is important to be patient and never give up on yourself.

Form new habits:

Your dream needs to be part of your everyday life. You have to train yourself to be consistent with following the right path to your future. Schedule time every day to take action toward one of your goals. For example if you want to have a certain amount of money saved in five years, set a schedule for you to deposit a certain amount each day. This will form a habit and eventually you will feel like you have to do it.

Remove roadblocks:

You have to recognize when something is not going to be good for your future goals. Roadblocks can be anything from people to the place you like to eat. You need to constantly think about what is going to benefit and hurt your future plans. You need to stay organized and free from unnecessary stress. You have to be ready to conquer your goals because you might have to leave a lot behind you.

Share your plans with others:

There is nothing better than having a great support system. Your true friends will support you no matter what the goal is and they will help to motivate you along the way. A true support system will want you to succeed just as bad as they want to. When you broadcast your future goals, this is a great time to look at who is congratulating you and who is telling you that you can’t do it. This is when you can discover some of those unwanted road blocks.

Reaching your future goals can be very hard but it is always worth it in the end. There were days where I didn’t think I could make it but I had a great support system and they never let me give up. I also had a strong belief in myself and I knew that I had to keep pushing through the hard times and eventually I would see the light.
