Life sometimes throws us curve balls we never saw coming and when that happens, our confidence can feel like it evaporates in an instant. In seconds, we can go from feeling successful to completely insecure. It can happen at work when we fail to reach a goal, don’t land a project, or lose a promotion opportunity. It can happen in our personal lives when a relationship ends, or we learn our children are in trouble. And it can send us on a roller coaster of emotions—but God wants us stable.

When our confidence is shaken at our core, we have to remember in whom we have our confidence—in whomwe trust. We have to hold on to our confidence in God, trusting him to help us navigate in those moments of emotional challenge. We have to learn to not throw away our confidence as the writer of Hebrews encouraged us:

Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised” (Hebrews 10:35-36).

Challenges in our lives will never stop coming—at work or at home. So the solution is to always ensure God is bigger on the inside of us than the problem we’re facing externally. That way, we don’t throw away our confidence—and we boldly continue to move forward full of faith.

Of course, we can’t make God physically bigger. He’s already omniscient and omnipresent. But we can make him bigger in our hearts and minds—by feeding ourselves his words of encouragement, the assurance of his promises.

Remember God is for you, and he’s working all things out for your good!
