Do you enjoy reading but feel like your life is too hectic to actually sit down and enjoy a good book? Whether it’s self-educating or pleasure reading, I have found that audiobooks are perfect for my busy life. Some people will argue that audio books don’t count as “reading” but I discovered some great benefits from listening to audio books.
Better Retention
If you have read a book before and then listen to the audio book version, you’ll retain and reinforce much more information. This is especially helpful when you want to learn about something that can improve your business skills.
Faster Learning
One of the main advantages of audio books is that you can pace the information you consume. If you want to go through a lot of information, this is a great way to do that. You can speed up or slow down the reader so you can take notes as well which really comes in handy for me.
Save Time
As much as we discourage multitasking, sometimes it can be useful and effective. Audio books are great for that. You can listen while you’re cleaning the house, folding clothes, driving, or anything else that doesn’t really require much effort
Convenient
Audio books are really convenient. You can have them on your phone, iPod, computer and in the car. This makes the content accessible and you can easily continue where you left off from last time.
Whenever I’m reading a book, I need to find myself a quiet place and almost force myself to be fully present. With audio books I find it much easier to pick it up and start consuming – regardless of location, noise level or time of day. It’s just so convenient.
