Finding balance between your business and your home life can be very difficult at times especially if you are an entrepreneur. It is completely normal for my business to claim the majority of my day so I absolutely have to be aware of my priorities and stick to a schedule. I found some great tips in an article that I want to share with you. They are great words to live by if you are trying to find that balance between your life and business.

Rise With the Sun

Everyday I have a busy schedule. I have kids to get ready to send off to school, meetings, and other various tasks. I don’t have time to sleep in so waking up early is a must for me to complete everything I need! The simple truth is that if you want to maintain a work-life balance but also be successful in business, you have to have a strategy. And a big part of that strategy will be waking up early.

Learn to Love Your Date Book

This also means planning out your day as much as you can in advance. Obviously not everything will fit into your carefully laid out schedule, but organizing your day ahead of time will show you when and where you can steal away time to yourself. I get so busy at times, if I don’t have my schedule to refer back to, I feel like a chicken with it’s head cut off and I actually get less done.

Trust Your Staff

The third and perhaps most important part of your strategy concerns delegation. Micro-managers will never be able to achieve the balance they want, so it’s vital to build out a team you can trust, prioritize what you want them to do and then let them do it. There is nothing wrong with hiring help if you have a hectic life. When you are building a business there will come a time where you just can’t do it all yourself. Having help has really saved me when it comes to balancing my work life and home life.

Take Care of Yourself

This means eating right, exercising, and taking the necessary steps to keeping yourself healthy! If you are not healthy, you won’t have the energy to get up early like you need to and conquer your day. Your body is your machine and if you want to get your work done, you must take care of yourself just like you would anything else that you use to get a job done. Being healthy will allow you to get more done in a certain amount of time and create a better balance for you and your home life.

Bottom line, you cannot work all the time. You have to remember what is important and what matters the most to you. Of course building a better life for yourself and your family is something that all of us want, but if you are buried in your work 24/7, you won’t be able to share the joy and excitement with the people who matter the most. Find that balance!!
